The Hundred Dresses

Congratulations to Ms. Barbara, Mr. Gatz, Mr. Wozniak, our talented student actors and musicians, and our hard working stagehands. Your adaptation and staging of Eleanor Estes' The Hundred Dresses was spectacular.

28th Music Recital

The 28th Annual Student Music Recital was a great success. A special thank you goes out to the people who made it happen: Dr. Charles Groeling, Mr Wozniak, Mr. Gatz, Ms. Weaver, David Lenckos, Matt Gold, Neil Peterson, and all our wonderful student musicians.

Great Job First Graders!!!

In honor of the super performance of Scammon's first graders in reading tons and tons of books, Ms. Weaver and Ms. Burgos climbed on our school's roof (not an easy task) and then had their hair dyed by the first graders. Great job first graders on both reading books and dyeing hair!!!

Mrs. Manata's Art Room

Mrs. Manata has created a great web site featuring student artwork and art resources. Click here to visit it.

Mr. Wozniak & Tone-Aires

We all know Mr. Wozniak is a great teacher, but did you know he a musician/producer as well? Listen to two songs from his band's singles album Reminiscing Old Times. It is interesting how similar polka music is to Mexican norteño music. Of course, there is a reason for this. I will leave it to you to find the reason.

CPS Alumni Site

Did you know that a Noble Prize winner graduated from Scammon? His name was Harry Markowitz. He won the Nobel in Economics for showing that portfolios should be diversified. Of course, Scammon’s most stellar graduate is our very own Mr. Smiljanich.

Find more about the history of the school you graduated from by visiting the CPS Alumni Site.

International Day

Once again International Day Celebration of World Authors was a great success!!! A special thanks goes out to Ms. Burgos, the International Day Committee, and all the teachers who worked so hard to make International Day a fun and informative day.

Mr. and Mrs. Barcham looked sensational dressed in the festive clothing of Assyria (modern day Iraq). Did you know that the Assyrians invented the wheel and the battering ram, were the first to divide a circle into 360 degrees, developed the concept of latitude and longitude, may have developed the first telescope, opened the first formal school, and created the first system of writing? Check back for more pictures.
